3 dead in 3 separate Atlanta shootings overnight

Three people were killed in separate cross-town shootings in Atlanta late Saturday and early Sunday.

One person was found dead in the the 400 block of Thomasville Boulevard, Atlanta police said. Officers were called to the wooded area around 10 p.m. Saturday and found the as yet unidentified victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

About five hours later, five people were shot at a biker bar, also in southeast Atlanta, leaving one man dead and another in surgery with multiple gunshot wounds, Atlanta police said. Two women were in stable condition with no information yet about the fifth person.

All were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after the gunfire at Strikers Motorcycle Club in the 1500 block of Moreland Avenue Southeast, which occurred around 3:10 a.m., police said. Fernando Wingfield, 44, of Atlanta, was killed, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A third incident happened across town, at a home in the 200 block of Hamilton E. Holmes Drive in northwest Atlanta. Police arrived there just before 2 a.m. to find a man who appeared to have been killed by a gunshot. He was identified by the medical examiner as Gregory Muckle, 66.

Police said they were searching the home and that their investigation was ongoing. Channel 2 Action News reported that two men and a woman lived at the home and that investigators said the shooting occurred during an argument. The surviving roommates were detained with police trying to determine who fired the weapon.
