The victim said he and his wife had just gone to bed when a car rolled past their home and someone opened fire.

A northwest Atlanta couple believe their home was sprayed with bullets as retaliation for their work fighting neighborhood crime, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Kendall Byrd told the news station that someone shot at their home on Delmar Lane on Tuesday night. He said he and his wife had just gone to bed when a car rolled past and someone opened fire.

“The next thing you know, all hell broke loose,” Byrd told Channel 2. “The house was vibrating. I told her not to get up or turn on any lights.”

Byrd said 25 to 30 rounds hit his home. He told Channel 2 he believes the shooters targeted them for actively reporting crimes, including drug dealing.

“We kept calling the police on gang activity, activity going on in the streets,” he said. “And they didn’t like that.”

The shooters have not been captured, Channel 2 reported.
