Road rage caused a crash that left a woman bruised after her car went up an embankment and flipped over, DeKalb County police said.

Hilary Dickinson told Channel 2 Action News she could have died after a driver slammed on the brakes in front of her.

A police report obtained Tuesday by AJC.com indicates the crash happened Friday near Briarwood Court and the I-85 service road. Dickinson, who was driving her blue Toyota Scion, was waiting to turn onto the service road when someone behind her blew a car horn, according to the report.

Dickinson told police the driver of a silver Jaguar followed her as she made a right turn. Then, according to the report, the driver sped around Dickinson, swerved into her lane and hit the brakes.

"So I swerved to avoid her car because I didn’t want to hit her car," she told Channel 2. "That’s when I overcorrected my car (and) fishtailed for a second.”

Dickinson’s car went up a hill.

“Next thing I know,” she said, “I was flipping around in my car."

There was no contact with the Jaguar, which sped from the scene as Dickinson’s car rolled several times, according to the report. The car ultimately landed on its roof, leaving Dickinson with bruising on her leg and a seat belt burn on her neck.

“The thing that’s most upsetting is that she did what she did, saw what she saw and then drove away,” she said. “I could have been dead.”

Authorities urge anyone with information about the crash to call DeKalb police.
