The man hit and killed Monday morning on I-285 jumped a median and ran into oncoming traffic after “making contact” with police, authorities said.

Doderick Moore, 30, of Atlanta was killed around 12:30 a.m. near Camp Creek Parkway in southwest Atlanta. According to an emailed statement from the Georgia State Patrol, he was driving a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire when he lost control in the southbound lanes and hit the median wall.

Moore left the scene but returned again when Atlanta police arrived — only to then climb over the median wall and “dart” into oncoming traffic, GSP said. He was hit by a Toyota Sequioa and pronounced dead at the scene.

Why Moore may have fled was unclear. No charges have been filed against the Sequioa driver.
