Two children were injured in DeKalb County last week when a driver hopped a curb, hit both of them and then moved them out of the road before driving away, authorities said.

Tarryl Langston, 26, was arrested two days after the hit-and-run last Tuesday, which broke 10-year-old Elijah’s leg and bruised 5-year-old Daisia’s face, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The kids’ families told Channel 2 they were playing on the sidewalk near Valencia Road about 3 p.m. Elijah was riding a big wheel tricycle with Daisia nearby.

Langston allegedly drove his SUV over the curb while making a right turn onto Valencia Drive from Madora Lane, hitting both children, according to a DeKalb police incident report obtained by AJC.com. A passenger was also in the vehicle, the report said.

“How could you do something like that to innocent children,” Tiar Williams, Elijah’s mother and Daisia’s aunt, told the news station. “That wasn’t right. That wasn’t right at all.”

Williams and Asia Warner, Daisia’s mother, began speaking to witnesses, and they were able to get a picture of the driver’s grey Jeep Cherokee, Channel 2 reported. Police were able to use the picture and Langston’s aunt to find and arrest him Thursday.

He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail on charges of hit-and-run, serious injury by vehicle and driving with a suspended license, police said.

“I hope he prays and asks God to forgive him and God has mercy on him,” Williams said.
