A Cobb County man was fatally shot in his SUV with his two children inside, and the vehicle crashed into a wooded area along Six Flags Parkway, police said.
Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce identified the man as Larry Grigsby, 42, of Austell.
Police were dispatched to the 7200 block of Six Flags Parkway after a woman called 911 about 2:30 a.m. Sunday to report a wreck near a Marathon gas station and the West Place and West Parc Apartment Homes.
“When they arrived near the entrance to the West Parc complex, they discovered that the driver of a Chevrolet Trailblazer had likely driven into some trees after being shot,” Pierce said.
Grigsby was alive when police arrived, but he died minutes later.
“Not only were the victim’s two children discovered uninjured in the back seat, detectives believe they were in the vehicle at the time their father was shot,” Pierce said.
