Police arrested two men and are searching for another after a wild chase discovered a stolen vehicle and firearms, authorities said.
Christopher Williams and Jerome Flood, both of Atlanta, were arrested on various misdemeanor charges of theft and one felony for auto theft early Wednesday morning after being pursued by LaGrange police.
Authorities responded to a suspected auto theft in the 100 block of Old Airport Road at the Lee’s Crossing apartments. At that point, a white Dodge Charger, allegedly driven by Christopher Avery with Williams and Flood in it, took off and sped down I-85 South, authorities said in a news release.
Police were able to stop the car by using a PIT maneuver. Williams attempted to run but was caught, arrested and taken to the Troup County jail.
Flood was found at a gas station on Lafayette Parkway trying to use a phone, authorities said. The store clerk’s description of the man matched that of the suspect and Flood was later arrested without incident and taken to the same jail.
Warrants for Avery’s arrest have been issued, but police have not found him.
The stolen vehicle was identified by police to be from Lithonia and had three stolen firearms in it, which came from LaGrange, Atlanta and Cumming, respectively. Police found other stolen property in the vehicle from LaGrange and Carrollton.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
