Police arrested one person and are searching for another after the two wrecked a stolen car into a power pole in Buckhead, authorities said.

Around 6:50 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a robbery in the 2000 block of Defoors Ferry Road. The description of the suspect’s vehicle matched that from a carjacking earlier Monday, Atlanta police said in a news release.

As the vehicle drove away from officers, a passenger bailed out and ran away, leaving the driver to crash into a pole in the 500 block of Moores Mill Road, the release said.

The driver was taken into custody and was not hurt in the crash, the release said. Officers are searching for the passenger.

Police told Channel 2 Action News that the driver had a warrant out for his arrest and is linked to multiple robberies. Police have not released the man’s name or the charges against him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police. Tipsters can remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
