Deputies are searching for two armed men accused of breaking into a Newton County home and forcing the homeowner to lie down with a plastic bag over his head while they robbed his house.
On March 30 around 2 a.m., the homeowner heard someone kicking in the back door of his home off Wilshire Walk, according to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
The homeowner jumped out of his bed, but the two men had already broken into the house and pointed 9mm pistols at his face, the report said. The robbers wore all black, masks and gloves.
The sheriff’s office released surveillance video of a backyard camera that shows the two men approach the house before covering up the camera.
The robbers forced the man to lie on the floor while wearing a plastic bag over his face and being covered up by a rug, the report said. One of the men knelt on his back while the other stole personal documents, a laptop and lawn equipment.
The men were driving a 2005 Chevy Silverado with the Georgia tag WZU536, the sheriff’s office said.
They will likely face aggravated assault, false imprisonment, criminal trespass and home invasion charges, according to the report.
Two days later, the victim’s debit card was used at a gas station on Bouldercrest Road in Ellenwood around 2:30 a.m., deputies said. Surveillance photos of the suspects in the gas station were provided by the sheriff’s office.
