A 26-year-old man accused in a southwest Atlanta shooting death was denied bond at his first court appearance, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Tyrone Curry was charged with murder in the death of 37-year-old Geoffrey Q. Watson-McCoy, according to Atlanta police. Watson-McCoy of Atlanta was killed Sunday just before 3 p.m. in the 400 block of Fairburn Road.

Investigators believe Watson-McCoy and Curry got into an argument earlier in the day Sunday.

“At some point later, the suspect returned to the location and retrieved a shotgun and fired at the victim one time, striking him in the back,” Officer Kim Jones previously said.

The suspect, later identified as Curry, initially fled on foot, but was later captured and interviewed before being charged in the death, police said. Curry was booked into the Fulton jail Monday and denied bond the same day.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 30 at 9:30 a.m.
