A man stole two vehicles and then led authorities on a 100-mph chase that ended in a crash Thursday along I-85 in Coweta County, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The man stole the second car after he crashed the first one next to a woman’s house, authorities said.
“The victim said a vehicle wrecked in the ditch in front of her house,” Coweta sheriff’s Lt. Keith Addis said. “And he came over and said I need your vehicle. She backed away from her vehicle for her safety. He got into it and took off.”
The second stolen car was spotted on I-85, which led to a chase that lasted for more than 10 miles. Addis said the driver lost control and went into the woods near the Flat Shoals Road exit.
Fire crews helped pull the man, who was not identified, from the car. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, according to authorities. He was not wearing a seat belt.
“Luckily,” Addis said, “no one else was hurt.”
