A Marietta woman faces a reckless conduct charge after police say she left her child in the car while she shopped at TJ Maxx, according to an arrest warrant.

Shoppers found 6-month-old Asshvi Marudur in the car “sweating and crying inside the vehicle” about 4:45 p.m. May 27, according to the warrant obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Police did not say how long the child had been in the car, which was parked in the 4000 block of Roswell Road with the windows rolled up. Temperatures reached 84 degrees that day, but felt like 88, police said. The boy’s hair appeared to be matted to his forehead by his sweat, according to the warrant.

Shoppers at the Marietta store called police while others attempted to find the boy’s parents.

One patron asked a TJ Maxx employee to make an announcement over the intercom about the child, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Ten minutes later, Shoba Marudur emerged from the store to get the child. Police said she told them she left him inside the car to sleep.

In addition to reckless conduct, Marudur faces cruelty to children in the second degree. She is out of the Cobb County jail on $11,000 bond.
