A North Cobb High School student is being charged as an adult after he exposed himself to a female student and dragged her into a boys’ bathroom during school hours, authorities said.
Brian Salinas, 17, of Kennesaw, exposed himself in a hallway, grabbed a girl “by her arm and drag(ged) her into the 300 hall boys bathroom” on Sept. 11, according to an arrest warrant obtained by AJC.com.
“During the movement,” Cobb County School District police said in the warrant, “the victim’s hand did touch accused.”
A student notified school officials when he saw Salinas and the girl inside the bathroom, Channel 2 Action News reported.
District police arrested Salinas Monday morning on misdemeanor charges of simple battery and public indecency, according to jail records. He was released later that day on $1,000 bond.
AJC.com reached out to the Cobb County School District and asked for details on the student’s background, and a district spokeswoman said: “Due to student privacy laws, we cannot confirm any personal details about any student at any time.”
Salinas and his family declined Channel 2’s request for comment.
North Cobb High School parent Shondra Pruitt said she hopes the charges are a way to continue the conversation about sexual conduct on school campuses.
“It's disturbing, to say the least," she told Channel 2. “ ... That type of thing has no place in a school building.”
