A former Cobb County police officer was denied bond Friday as prosecutors made their case that he sexually assaulted a woman twice while on the job.
Andres Martinez Alcaraz, 37, of Acworth, is accused of spotting a woman digging through a dumpster, intimidating her into sex and leaving briefly before sexually assaulting her a second time, Channel 2 Action News reported.
“She is worried that he is a police officer, and there will be retaliation,” Detective Phillip Stoddard said. “He started calling her sexy.”
Alcaraz, a former Marine, said someone flagged him down on Benson Poole Road about midnight May 17 to report that the woman seemed suspicious, Channel 2 reported.
The victim said he demanded her to get into his patrol car, where she said he drove her behind a building on South Cobb Drive and sexually assaulted her, the news station reported.

“She felt like she didn’t have a choice, and she did not want to go to jail,” Stoddard said. “She stated that he gave her $10. She was upset it was only $10. He then drove off.”
An hour later, he allegedly returned and sexually assaulted the woman again.
Alcaraz denies the allegations. However, Stoddard said the patrol car’s GPS system, surveillance video, DNA evidence and nude pictures obtained by police confirm the victim’s story, the news station reported.
Police previously told AJC.com that Alcaraz resigned the day before being charged with sexual assault by a law enforcement officer and violation of oath by a public officer. Judge Kerrie Hill denied his bond.
Alcaraz remains in the Cobb County jail, records show.
