Clayton County middle school teacher accused of molesting 13-year-old student

A Clayton County middle school teacher faces charges of child molestation, sodomy, enticing a child for indecent purposes and sexual assault by persons with authority.

A Clayton County middle school teacher has been accused of sexual misconduct with one of his 13-year-old students, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Darriel Bailey, who was arrested by Clayton County deputies Aug. 7, faces charges of child molestation, sodomy, enticing a child for indecent purposes and sexual assault by persons with authority, according to jail records.

Bailey, who teaches at M.D. Roberts Middle School in Jonesboro, allegedly exposed himself to the 13-year-old boy while at school last year, according to warrants obtained by Channel 2.

It’s unclear whether Bailey is still employed by the school, and the Clayton County School District told AJC.com it doesn’t comment on ongoing investigations.

He’s also accused of asking the boy to go to the bathroom with him to perform indecent acts, the warrants said. When the boy said no, the warrants said Bailey enticed him to participate on at least three occasions.

Parents told Channel 2 they were not contacted by the school regarding the incident.

The school system told the news station it couldn’t comment, but said it addresses personnel matters with the appropriate entities.
