A Gwinnett County woman left her 6-year-old son unattended in a car at Lake Lanier while she was “asking for drinks” at a wedding party, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said.
The car driven by Gwendolyn Claire Truby, 41, of Dacula, was in neutral and had the keys in the ignition, the Gainesville Times reported. The car was about 40 yards from the waterfront.
“Approximately halfway from the vehicle’s location and the water was a substantial drop-off of the terrain,” Hall sheriff’s OfficeLt. Scott Ware wrote in a news release.
Hall County authorities charged Truby with second-degree cruelty to children, reckless conduct and public drunkenness, the paper reported.
The child, who was not injured, was released to his father, according to the report.
