A chase that exceeded 100 mph ended with two people arrested on drug trafficking charges, according to a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

On Thursday, authorities spotted a maroon Dodge Magnum traveling upwards of 115 mph on Ga. 16 headed toward Whitesburg, according to the report. Whitesburg is roughly 50 miles southwest of Atlanta.

The car passed a tractor-trailer on the shoulder and ran through a Get N Go store parking lot before wrecking and landing in a ditch.

After the crash, driver Issac Otwell and passenger Jessica Emmett crawled out of the passenger side door, according to the report. Otwell, officials said, ran from deputies, but was shortly captured.

Law enforcement officers found a large bag of methamphetamine near the passenger door. Another large bag of meth and a small bag believed to be containing heroin were also found in Otwell’s jacket, according to the report.

Deputies also found an orange pill bottle containing 76 Xanax pills. The label was peeled off.

Each faces drug trafficking and possession charges. Otwell also faces additional charges, including reckless driving and felony fleeing, eluding and obstruction.

Otwell and Emmett were booked in the Carroll County jail.
