A man found dead inside a house in Canton following a Wednesday night fire has been identified as the homeowner.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab used forensics to determine that the victim was Frank Greene, 65, of Villa Rica, Canton police officer Pacer Cordry said Friday.
An autopsy done at the GBI crime lab had not been able to verify the identity, Cordry said Thursday.
The fire occurred at the house on Legend Creek Drive about 4 p.m., Cordry said. A body was found inside after the blaze was extinguished.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire and the manner of Greene’s death, Cordry said.
