2 DeKalb police officers among those taken to hospital after 5-vehicle wreck

A wreck involving a DeKalb County police car shut down a busy intersection Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash happened near Covington Road and Young Road and involved five vehicles, DeKalb police said. The patrol car had its lights and sirens on while responding to a call when the wreck took place.

Everyone involved in the crash, including two officers, were taken to local hospitals. It’s unclear how many people were injured, and none of their conditions were provided.

No other information on the incident has been released.


The Channel 2 Action News chopper showed an ambulance was on the scene at one point. The scene has since been cleared, according to Channel 2.
