A woman was arrested Friday morning, 11 days after she hit an officer with a stolen car near Conley, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said.

Demeka Arvell Malcom had been on the run since Aug. 13, when Clayton County police responded to a fight just after 1 a.m. in the 1800 block of Marceau Drive.

“When officers arrived, a female attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle,” GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said at the time of the incident. “The female driver backed up and struck an officer, pinning him against a marked CCPD patrol car. A CCPD officer fired at the fleeing vehicle.”

The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with a broken leg, Miles said. He has since been released.

Malcom sped away as police fired at the car, which was recovered roughly a mile from the scene, according to authorities.

Detectives identified her as the suspect after a joint investigation between the sheriff’s office and the police department.

She is in the county jail on unspecified charges.
