A SWAT team used tear gas to bring an armed man out of the Covington house where he barricaded himself for hours Wednesday night, police said.
Jody Allen Reid, 30, was one of three men officers saw standing in a yard as they wrapped up another incident in the area, Covington police spokesman Officer Allan Seebaran said.
The other two men outside 5191 Emory Street ran, but they were quickly arrested, he said.
Chad Davis, 31, and Anthony Underwood, 42, both of Covington, were taken to Newton County jail Wednesday night, Seebaran said.
Davis was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm and drug-related objects.
Underwood had a warrant out of Jasper County on a charge of receiving stolen property. He was also charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, theft by receiving and attempting to elude police.
Reid, who police said was armed when he ran into the house, had a warrant for his arrest out of Walton County on a larceny charge, Seebaran said.
While in the area, police also recovered three guns and a Hyundai stolen out of Clayton County, Seebaran said. One of the guns was stolen out of Suwanee and police haven’t yet determined where the other two guns came from, Seebaran said.
No injuries were reported.
The original incident involved a call about 2 p.m., in which police arrested two juveniles on criminal trespassing and possession of marijuana charges, Seebaran said. Those cases will be handled in juvenile court.
Police were on their way to a house where one of the juveniles' mothers lived when they spotted the people in the yard, Seebaran said.
