A suspect in a Maryland homicide has been captured in Duluth, police said.

Deandre Stevenson, 31, was taken into custody at the QuikTrip at 4006 Buford Highway on Wednesday night.

A Duluth tag reader alerted officers that a car associated with a murder in Maryland was in the area, police spokesman Officer Ted Sadowski said in a statement Thursday.

Police then found the car at the gas station, he said.

“Due to the seriousness of the situation, several officers from our agency converged on the vehicle,” Sadowski said.

Stevenson was taken into custody “without incident,” he said. He was booked into the Gwinnett County jail, where he is being held with no bond.

The details of the Maryland incident are not clear.
