A man has been charged with murder and felony murder in connection with a deadly shooting at a townhome complex in Riverdale, police said.

“The suspect responsible for shooting Edward Hicks on November 1 at 296 Roy Huie Road is now in custody,” Riverdale police Chief Todd Spivey told Channel 2 Action News in an emailed statement.

The chief identified the suspect as 33-year-old Deontae Greene. Details about Greene and his arrest were not released.

Neighbors told Channel 2 they heard gunshots at the Stonegate Townhomes, which is next to Charles R. Drew High School and Riverdale Elementary School.

School operations went on as normal, a Clayton County Public Schools spokeswoman told AJC.com at the time.

Police called in the GBI to help process the crime scene.
