A man was shot and killed Tuesday by a coworker he had been dining with in downtown Buford, Gwinnett County police said.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jerome Daniel Colvin, was caught about three blocks away while trying to run from the area, spokesman Wilbert Rundles said.
Colvin, of Auburn, has been charged with murder, felony murder and aggravated assault, according to police.
The victim was identified as Allen Craig Willard Jr., 25, of Suwanee, police said.
Police told Channel 2 Action News that the two worked at a local towing company.
The shooting happened around noon in the area of West Main Street and South Lee Street, according to police.
Colvin and Willard were at Rico’s World Kitchen when an altercation broke out, Rundles told Channel 2.
“It all happened outside the restaurant,” Rundles said. “What led to the actual dispute and altercation, we’re still trying to put together.”
The victim’s body was found in the roadway. No one else was injured, Rundles said.
