A person of interest in two Henry County homicides was found dead in his vehicle Monday after a shootout with Jonesboro police, authorities said.

Donnie Wayne Hall, 50, of Stockbridge, was wanted for questioning in the deaths of Anne Hall, his estranged wife and Ali Grace, Channel 2 Action News reported. Anne Hall was found dead Monday morning at a location on Carl Parker Road, and Grace’s body was found about three miles away on Steele Drive.

The victims’ identities were confirmed by Henry County Coroner Donald Cleveland. A motive behind the slayings has not been released.

“It’s just bizarre, and it’s just like a bad dream you can’t wake up from,” Rob Bogel, the Halls’ son-in-law, told Channel 2.

Henry County police put out an alert following their deaths, asking the public to be on the lookout for Hall. A tipster reported seeing him on Tara Boulevard in Jonesboro just before 4:30 p.m., according to GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles.

“Jonesboro PD officers located the vehicle that Hall was driving a few minutes later,” Miles said in a news release. “Hall reportedly shot at officers from his moving vehicle during a high-speed chase along Fayetteville Road.”

When the chase reached the intersection of Fayetteville Road and Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro officers tried to forcibly stop Hall’s vehicle. They exchanged gunfire, and Hall was off again, Miles said.

He was found dead by authorities about an hour later when his vehicle was spotted on Sunnydale Lane in Jonesboro.

“No shots were fired at the Sunnydale Lane location,” she said.

It is unknown if Hall died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or was injured during the exchange with police. An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, according to the state agency.

No officers were injured during the incident.

On Monday morning, a message was posted on Donnie Hall’s public Facebook page that said, “Sorry for the disappointment friends. Just couldn't take it. See ya on the flip side.”

The GBI was requested by the Jonesboro Police Department to investigate the officer-involved shooting, the 59th such investigation the state agency has opened this year.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also tracks officer-involved shootings that don't involve the GBI, and those numbers sometimes differ from the GBI's tally.
