A Marietta police officer faces a domestic violence simple battery charge following his arrest in Powder Springs after allegedly hitting a woman in the face.

Martin Arturo Duenas, born in 1991, is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation by his department, Marietta police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy confirmed. Duenas has been a uniformed patrol officer in Marietta since 2014.

Around 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Duenas is accused of striking a woman in the face during an argument in the 4300 block of Pinetree Drive, according to an arrest warrant obtained by AJC.com. He allegedly told investigators he made “physical contact” with the victim.

He bonded out of the Cobb County Jail for $1,870, according to jail records.
