A man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of a Roswell supermarket, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the Super Mercado Jalisco on Alpharetta Street about 12:50 p.m. after getting a call about an armed robbery, Roswell police spokesman Officer Sean Thompson said. They arrived to find an unconscious man in the parking lot.

Police helped paramedics perform life-saving measures, but the victim died after being taken to the hospital, authorities said.

It’s unclear what led to the fatal shooting, but police are working to determine whether robbery was a motive, Thompson said.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting is asked to call Roswell detectives at 770-640-4100. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
