Two men in a pickup truck were shot after offering another man a ride outside a DeKalb County store Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The man who was picked up shot the driver in the leg and took off with the passenger, DeKalb police spokesman Maj. Stephen Fore said. After pulling into the Whitney Chase Apartments near Young and Chase roads, the man then shot the passenger and took off.

Police dogs helped officers track and capture the suspect within an hour, Fore said.

The passenger was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Fore said. The driver shot in the leg was not seriously injured.
