A two-hour SWAT standoff in Norcross ended with a man coming out of a hotel room and being arrested, authorities said.

Around 4 p.m. Friday, Gwinnett County police attempted to stop a vehicle for a routine traffic violation near the intersection of Oakbrook Parkway and Jimmy Carter Boulevard, according to a news release from the department. The man then ran from officers.

He ended up running to the Horizon Inn and Suites at 6187 Dawson Boulevard and barricading himself in a room, the release said.

He was armed with a knife and began to make threats to harm himself, the release said.

A little after 6:45 p.m., police said he exited the room, was placed under arrest and was evaluated by medical personnel.

Police haven’t identified the man or what charges he faces. No other details have been released.
