UPDATE: Suspect named in deadly Brookhaven shooting

The victims were not shot at the Waffle House. Investigators said they?€™re not sure when and where the shooting happened.

Police named a suspect in a shooting in DeKalb County that killed one person and left another in critical condition.

Pierre Gregory Singletary, 34, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault, Brookhaven police said Saturday in a statement on social media.

Singletary is described as 5-foot-6 and 170 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information on Singletary's location or details about the shooting, to include others involved, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers, police Maj. Brandon Gurley said.

The shooting Friday prompted SWAT officers to be called to the scene, police confirmed.

Authorities believe the shooting took place inside a unit at The Mille at Brookhaven at 1000 Barone Avenue, Gurley told Channel 2 Action News at a news conference Friday evening.

The North Metro SWAT team was called in because it was unknown if anyone was in the apartment where the shooting took place, Gurley said. No one was inside, but police found evidence that a shooting took place.

There were no signed of forced entry into the apartment, and police haven’t identified a motive for the shooting, Gurley said.

The two victims were found just before 3 p.m. at a Waffle House at 2886 Clairmont Road near I-85, police said.

One victim died at the hospital and the other underwent surgery and is in critical condition, Gurley said. He said the victims, who haven’t been named, were acquaintances.

The investigation is ongoing.
