A DeKalb County student was stabbed with a pencil while on a bus in the 5100 block of Blackfoot Drive.

A DeKalb County high school student was stabbed with a pencil while on a school bus Friday afternoon, the district confirmed.

The incident happened on a bus in the 5100 block of Blackfoot Drive in unincorporated Lithonia, the DeKalb County School District said in a statement.

“A student received a puncture wound as a result of an incident involving a pencil. (Emergency Medical Services) was called to the scene. DCSD Public Safety is investigating the event,” the district said.

The school the students attend and the injured student’s condition are unknown.

Several police cars and an ambulance were seen at the scene, according to the Channel 2 Action News chopper.

“Once the investigation is complete, we will take the appropriate action. Our attention now is focused on the well-being of the injured student,” the statement said.
