A medical examiner has identified a man found shot to death outside of a southwest Atlanta gas station as police continue to search for the man accused of killing him.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office on Wednesday identified Derrick Dawson as the man found fatally shot Monday morning.

The shooting occurred at the Citgo in the 3600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near Bakers Ferry Road, Atlanta police spokesman James White told AJC.com. Officers found the man, later identified as Dawson, with a gunshot wound to his side. He died at the scene.

The gas station is near Interstate 20.??

Atlanta police on Tuesday released photos of a man and a vehicle believed to be connected to the fatal shooting.

“Atlanta police investigators are asking for assistance identifying the individual and vehicle in the images,” White said.

Atlanta police are investigating a deadly shooting at the Citgo gas station on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Bakers Ferry Road.
