A man and woman were found dead at a Buckhead apartment complex Friday morning in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

Officers were called to investigate at the Berkshire Howell Mill in the 1900 block of Howell Mill Road just before 7 a.m., Atlanta police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty told AJC.com.

“A firearm was recovered from the scene and at this time, it appears the male may have shot and killed the female victim before killing himself,” Daugherty said in a statement. “This does appear to be a domestic incident, but the exact relationship between the parties is still under investigation.”

They were identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as Randy Colbert and Shameeka Carroll, both 43.

Homicide investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths, Daugherty said Friday.
