A traffic stop on the Downtown Connector led to four people being taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed.

The resulting police activity blocked four southbound lanes near 10th Street, causing heavy delays, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. All lanes have since reopened.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said the incident was not a pursuit.

Officers tried to pull over a black Hyundai when someone in the car threw a bag outside while the car tried to move through traffic and escape police, Brown said. Three other cars were hit during the incident, but no one was hurt.

The names of the people in custody have not been released. Charges are pending against the suspects.
