A man was killed and a 16-year-old girl was injured in a shooting Tuesday morning at a College Park gas station.

The victims were found shot when College Park police responded to a Chevron at the corner of Old National Highway and Godby Road about 2:40 a.m. The girl was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital and was stable, according to police.

The man, identified by police as 29-year-old James Brown, was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

“Detectives have determined a verbal altercation took place prior to the shooting and are still working leads to identify the suspects involved,” College Park police Lt. O. Manning said in a news release.

Investigators placed at least 34 evidence markers outside the Chevron station Tuesday morning. Many of them were marked shell casings, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Authorities could be seen towing two vehicles from the parking lot just after 6:15 a.m., according to Channel 2. There were multiple bullet holes in one of them.

It was not clear if either of the vehicles belonged to the victims. Police did not say if the man and the teenage girl arrived at the gas station together.

An investigation is ongoing, Manning said.
