Police have arrested the boyfriend of a woman found stabbed in the neck Tuesday and bleeding on the floor of a southwest Atlanta home.

Leslie Bell’s brother-in-law discovered her in the kitchen of the home in the 1700 block of Willis Mill Road just before 6 p.m. The 48-year-old was dead by the time paramedics arrived, according to Atlanta police.

On Thursday, investigators announced they had taken Bell’s boyfriend, 56-year-old Wendell Ross, into custody.

“Ross and Bell had been in a romantic relationship prior to her death,” police spokesman Investigator James White said in a news release. “He became the primary suspect following the events.”

Investigators had probable cause to search Ross’ home, and he allegedly confessed to the deadly stabbing during an interview, White said. He was arrested without incident on felony murder charges.

Ross waived his first appearance before a judge Thursday, and bond was not set. He will remain in the Fulton County Jail.
