Atlanta police determined there was no hostage situation at a hotel.

SWAT officials called to a northeast Atlanta hotel about a possible hostage situation determined there wasn’t one after all, police said Friday.

Police were called to the Budget Inn and Suites in the 100 block of Pine Street about noon regarding a potential hostage situation, Atlanta police Officer Lisa Bender said.

Officers were initially unable to contact the individuals in a hotel room, she said.

“Additional units including SWAT were called to the scene to assist,” Bender said. “Eventually, the occupants exited the room and it was determined that no one was being held against their will.”

Atlanta police arrested Kenny Cooper, who had a warrant for drug charges, Bender said.
