See the drugs confiscated after 21 arrested at Florida music festival

The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office arrested 21 people during its recent four-day music festival, far fewer than during last year's event, sheriff's officials confirmed Friday.

Last year, 65 people left the festival with criminal charges.

Some festival-goers likely avoided arrest by discarding illegal narcotics in the sheriff’s office set up amnesty boxes, which were set up so drugs could be disposed before K-9s searched vehicles.

Through the boxes and the K-9 searches, officials confiscated about six pounds of hydroponic marijuana, 150 hits of LSD, two pounds of marijuana-laced baked goods and 100 hits of ecstasy.

They also confiscated 50 Molly capsules, 200 pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, 30 LSD-dipped cigarettes, 25 marijuana gummies and 150 drug paraphernalia items.

“We welcome anyone that travels to Okeechobee for the musicfest and encourage them to enjoy the festival,” Sheriff Noel Stephen said in a statement Friday. “However we will do all we can to eliminate as many drugs coming into Okeechobee County. With the help of assisting agencies, the weekend searches resulted in a large amount of narcotics taken off the streets.”

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, Highlands County Sheriff’s Office, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Federal Bureau of Investigations and Okeechobee City Police Department assisted in policing the four-day festival.
