A Jackson County woman is charged with attempted murder after leaving her boyfriend in critical condition during a dispute, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a home along Robert Drive in Braselton last week after a woman called to report that her mother and the man got into a physical altercation, Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum said.

Police knocked at the door but nobody answered.

Hours later, authorities were called back to the home by Monique Pinckney, who told dispatchers there was an unconscious man bleeding in her bathtub, Mangum said.

When deputies arrived, Pinckney walked out the front door, telling police she hit her boyfriend and he was in the bathtub, police said.

Police took the woman into custody. Inside the home, they found a trail of blood leading toward 29-year-old James Patrick Pritchard, who was lying in a bathtub and having trouble breathing, according to an incident report.

“The male had blood coming from a bandaged wound on his right cheek and dark bruises all over his body from head to toe,” the report said.

Police said Pinckney had dried blood on her hands.

Pritchard was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition “with numerous injuries to his head and body,” the sheriff said.

Pinckney, 52, was indicted Monday on one count of criminal attempt to commit murder and two counts of aggravated assault. She remains held without bond at the Jackson County jail, records show.
