Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered inside a car submerged in a Dalton pond.
The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office received a call Wednesday about a vehicle in the water off Keeter Road, deputies said.
The GBI and the Georgia State Patrol were called in to help pull the car from the pond, authorities said, and the body was located in the vehicle’s “front passenger compartment.”
Police have not identified the person, but investigators believe the vehicle had been underwater for several months.
The body has been sent to the GBI’s crime lab to determine an identity and cause of death, authorities said.
