A 16-month-old boy who was abducted in Albany on Monday afternoon was later found safe.

Kaiden Scott was taken from his mother by Alfred Hunter, 22, at Superior Creek Lodge, located at 2505 N. Slappey Blvd., according to a post on the Albany Police Department's Facebook page. The boy was found in Sumter County with Hunter later in the afternoon, according to an email from Albany police spokeswoman Phyllis Whitley-Banks.

The child was found safe, and Hunter, who is the child's father, was taken into custody, WALB-TV reported. Hunter does not have parental custody of Kaiden, police said.

An Amber Alert that was issued for Kaiden was called off around 5:30 p.m.

Hunter is believed to have taken Kaiden in a blue 1984 Chevrolet Caprice. The car was found in Sumter County around 3:45 p.m., according to another post on the police department’s Facebook page.
