Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents and Paulding County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at a home Wednesday morning.
Police went to the house on Campground School Road near Dallas just before noon and found a man on the front porch dead from a gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities determined that Alvin Lee Jenks, 38, and two other men had gone to the house looking for another man in order to confront him about a previous incident, Paulding County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ashley Henson said.
When the homeowner told Jenks that the man they were looking for was not there, the two got into a heated argument and the homeowner went inside and slammed the door.
Jenks then began kicking in the front door and the homeowner fired several rounds from a rifle through the door and hit Jenks, Henson said.
The other two men fired back then fled, leaving Jenks, according to police.
Anyone with information about what happened at the scene is asked to call the Paulding County Sheriff’s criminal investigations division at 770-443-3015.
