A Douglas County judge this week denied bond to an Atlanta woman indicted and held on charges of beating a 13-month-old girl to death.
Alexis Jade Cave, 20, was arrested Monday in the death of Diarra Chappell, who died between Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 in 2013, court officials said.
Initially the investigation led to charges against Darius Lamont Virger of Douglasville.. The 30-year-old man is accused of swinging Diarra by the ankles and striking her head against a love seat multiple times, causing "numerous hemorrhages to her head," according to the arrest warrant obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The indictment, however, also names Cave. She and Virger face seven charges, including murder, aggravated sexual battery against Diarra and cruelty to children.
