T.J. Solomon was 15 years old when he used his stepfather’s .22-caliber rifle and a .357-caliber Magnum revolver to open fire inside Heritage High School’s commons area. He was released from prison July 26, 2016, after serving 17 years of a 20-year sentence. Here, Solomon, then 17, enters a Rockdale County courtroom flanked by Rockdale Sheriff's deputies in Conyers, Aug. 9, 2001. He was seeking a reduction of his 40-year prison sentence. Read more about Solomon's release here. -- Text by Lauren Foreman, AJC
