Atlanta police: No threats to city, but officers will attend vigils
By Alexis Stevens
June 12, 2016There have been no credible threats of terrorism targeting Atlanta. But officers will attend vigils planned Sunday night to mourn those killed in Orlando, a spokeswoman for the Atlanta Police Department said.
The department also increased patrols Sunday around clubs, restaurants, community centers and places of worship frequented by the gay community, according to Elizabeth Espy, APD spokeswoman.
“Our prayers are with all of those affected by this tragedy and we pray for the first responders in Orlando,” APD said in an emailed statement.
Local bar owners are also planning increased security following the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub.
