An Athens man was sentenced to 25 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing another man during a drunken fight in 2017, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.

Rico Tayaassa Mitts, 42, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, the newspaper reported.

He was initially charged with malice and felony murder in the stabbing death of Albert Darnell Brown. The 37-year-old Athens man was fatally stabbed in the chest in September 2017, AJC.com previously reported.
