An Athens man turned himself in Thursday, two days after he allegedly shot his wife in the chest.

Courtney Jerrod Wiley, 30, surrendered to authorities at the Jackson County Jail on Thursday afternoon, according to a release from Athens-Clarke County police. He is accused of shooting Kasundra Wiley at an Oak Hill Drive residence in Athens on Tuesday night.

Warrants had been issued for Courtney Wiley for aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and third degree cruelty to children. The victim’s children were in the residence at the time of the shooting, although it was not clear if they actually witnessed the incident.

Kasundra Wiley was taken by emergency medical personnel to Athens Regional Medical Center for her injuries.
