Following a months-long investigation, 11 men were taken into custody Wednesday at The Mall West End on drug and gang-related charges, Atlanta police confirmed.
Undercover officers were able to purchase weapons and narcotics, which helped lead to the arrests, Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Stephanie Brown told AJC.com.
The mall is located at 850 Oak Street in southwest Atlanta. At least 17 police vehicles were spotted during the arrests.
Police recovered about 32 grams of marijuana along with a handgun, Brown said.
Brown said the department anticipates more arrests to stem from this investigation.
The 11 men who were arrested are Joseph Edmond, 29; Joshua Allen; 23; Ari Ratlif, 22; Licorey Rowe, 21; Malik Sillan, 20; Napolean Crowder, 22; Deontavious Robinson, 25; Deshan Knox, 23; Stephen Horney, 28; Ricky Tate, 24 and Tivondre Winfrey, 27, Brown said.
Allen, Ratliff, Rowe and Robinson all had warrants out of Atlanta for marijuana sales, Brown said. Allen and Robinson also had warrants for criminal gang activity, and Crowder had a warrant for probation violation.
Edmond, Rowe, Sillan, Crowder, Knox, Horney, Tate and Winfrey were all charged with pedestrian in roadway, Brown said. Edmond and Sillan also face charges of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
All 11 were taken to the Atlanta City Detention Center, Brown said.
