Four 17-year-old Cedar Shoals High School students were arrested Monday morning after a series of fights at the start of the school day.

A Clarke County School District spokeswoman told Channel 2 Action News the fights followed an incident that took place over the weekend. Seven additional students under the age of 17 were sent home, though the school spokeswoman said “the numbers may change.”

Athens-Clarke County police were called in to help school resource officers. The school day was delayed 30 minutes, the district official told Channel 2.

Police were investigating if the fights were gang-related.
