A Roswell man drove his Jeep Grand Cherokee so fast along Ga. 400 that police didn’t just give him a ticket. They arrested him.

Austin Elstad, 33, told Alpharetta police he was on his way to pick up his daughter from day care about 12:30 p.m. Monday. He was traveling 111 mph, according to a police report released Friday.

A second daughter was sleeping in a car seat directly behind the driver, police wrote in the report.

While police arrested Elstad on speeding and reckless driving charges, the car and child were released to a family member. The report lists a first-offense status for the reckless driving charge.
